One of the most inspiring entrepreneur of India : ‘King of spices’ Mahashay Dharampal Gulati

End Of an Era.. Om Shanti to the Grand Old Man of Spices who from small beginnings after Partition went on to set up the Biggest Most Successful Spices Company MDH.

During the partition, Dharampal Gulati-ji and his family migrated to India and spent time in a refugee camp in Amritsar, after which they moved to Delhi, in search of work.

He has done multiple businesses from selling Rice to Soap to Woods. He has also pulled the Tanga in Delhi.

Thereafter he bought small wooden khokha (Shop) at Karol Bagh, Delhi and started his family business of ground spices & again raised the banner of Mahashian Di Hatti of Sialkot. Today, MDH Masala is famous worldwide. In 2017, Gulati Ji became the highest paid FMCG CEO in India.

When it comes to philanthropy, Gulati Ji donated around 90% of his salary to charity under the banner of the Mahashay Chunni Lal Charitable Trust. This trust operates a hospital in Delhi, along with 4 schools and a mobile hospital for slum dwellers. Truly, not just the king of spices but had a heart of king size too.

In 2019, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Bhusan Award.
